The Origin Scroll

It started the way many quests do: with a decorating crisis.

We were trying to build the ultimate game room—wall-to-wall vibes, complete with dragon-egg lamps, pixel art posters and at least one glowing D20. But when it came to rugs? Total party wipe.

We found a couple of cool designs on Etsy but they were barely thicker than a character sheet and stood zero chance against spilled Mtn Dew, ember trails from incense, chairs scraping like siege weapons, face-down pizza and the occasional pet accident triggered by a scream over a nat 1.

The sturdier, higher-quality rugs? They were easier to find but they were all so...beige.

As artists and—ahem, textile designers—we couldn’t let the floor be an afterthought. The rug isn’t just part of the room—it’s the heart of it. It anchors the space and takes more abuse than anything else under your roof (except maybe the Wi-Fi). So we made a rug that fit our very high, very exacting standards. Then a friend wanted one. And another. And before we knew it, Area of Effect Rugs rolled initiative.

At Area of Effect Rugs, we believe every rug should tell a good story—or at least be tough enough to survive one. Whether your realm is a console-fueled battle zone, a dice-rolling dungeon, a billiards parlor, a she-shed spellcraft nook or a Western hideout with sports on in the background—we’ve got you (and your floor) covered.

Our mission is simple: forge epic rugs that withstand high traffic, critical spills, pet dragons, and the occasional nacho-related disaster. Each rug blends artistry and durability to bring style and story to your domain—whatever form it takes.
